Scheduled Workshops

Small Business Workshops (continuous)

General description: This course is specifically designed for the small business owner who is either just starting out, or for the small business owner who is using manual record keeping and would like to work with a small, easy-to-use and up-to-date computerized accounting system. The course assumes the participant has no formal bookkeeping or accounting training, although individuals that have basic bookkeeping and accounting may also benefit from the course. The course is taught by Marian Jacklich, M.S.A., C.P.A.

General objectives:

· Business objectives: What are you in business to do?

· Setting up your business: navigation of the maze of licenses and taxing authorities to be certain you are taking care of all of your business taxes (and not forgetting or overlooking any).

· Setting up your record keeping: How to make it easy, fast, reliable and actually fun so you don’t have to dread it.  How to save yourself the cost of a bookkeeper.

· Tax topics: How to optimize the way you spend your money for the most common and basic business expenses

The class size is limited to four attendees per workshop so each participant has individualized instruction and consultation for their specific business. The format is open discussion and is not a confidential session. Confidential sessions can be arranged separate from the workshop.

Date, Time and Location

Workshops are held the last Saturday morning of every month from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, by pre-registration only. Light refreshments are served during the workshop. Registrations must be made ten days in advance of attendance. The courses are held in our seminar room located directly at 2540 Greenwood Dr., Kissimmee, Florida.

Cost of the Workshop and Related Material Costs

Enrollment for the workshop is deductible as either a business expense or an employee business expense. Florida admissions tax is included in the cost of the workshop. Registrations are made 10 days in advance of the workshop, payment is made at the time of registration. The workshop fee is non-refundable. If a participant is unable to attend a workshop, they may enroll for an alternate regularly scheduled workshop if requested 48 hours in advance.

Participants are asked to bring their own laptop computer that meets specific requirements and specific software to the course. A list of equipment and software requirements are available upon registration, and a participant may be enrolled for a later course in order to allow them enough time to obtain the proper equipment and software.
Equipment and software is a separate expense that can vary from participant to participant depending on what they may already have.   In general, if you have no equipment yet or have out-of-date equipment, you can expect to spend equipment costs in addition to the workshop fee (we go over the deductibility of this expense in the course). No loaner or rental equipment is available.
